Buyer intent
Buyer intent software that acts on the signal, not just reports it
Buyer intent software explained: hiring, funding, new leaders and more. Outbind spots the signal, scores the account and starts the conversation for you.
Buyer intent software tells you which companies are more likely to buy right now, based on signals such as hiring, funding or a new leader. Outbind detects those signals, adds intent to every account's score with its reasons shown, and then acts on them: it researches the lead, writes an email that cites the signal and follows up.
That last step is the gap in most intent tools. A signal in a dashboard does nothing until someone writes to the right person.
What is buyer intent software?
Buyer intent software collects signs that a company may be in the market and turns them into a list or score you can act on. The goal is timing: writing to a company when it has a reason to listen.
Signals fall into two broad kinds. Company events, such as hiring, funding, new leaders, expansions and acquisitions, are public and easy to explain. Behaviour signals, such as research activity, depend on where the data comes from. Ask any vendor which kind they mean.
What buyer intent signals does Outbind track?
Outbind tracks company event signals, and which ones you get depends on your plan:
| Signal | Plans |
|---|---|
| Hiring | Every plan |
| Funding, including recently funded companies | Every plan |
| New leaders | Pro Plus and up (checked weekly) |
| Expansions | Pro Plus and up (checked weekly) |
| Acquisitions | Pro Plus and up (checked weekly) |
| Tech stack and what changed | Team Scale |
Every event is hashed on arrival, so retries never repeat it. The same funding round or new hire is counted once, not every time it is seen.
If your main need is a type of signal not in this table, check that a tool lists it before you buy.
What should you look for in buyer intent software?
Look for signals you can explain, scores with reasons and a fast path from signal to message. Ask these questions on any trial:
- Which signals, exactly? "Intent" can mean many things. Get the list.
- How often are they checked? Daily, weekly or on arrival changes how fresh your timing is.
- Does the score show its reasons? A number without reasons is hard to trust.
- Does it combine intent with fit? A strong signal at a company that does not fit your ICP is still a poor lead.
- What happens next? If the tool stops at a list, you still need research, writing and sending.
- Are duplicate signals handled? You do not want to email the same company twice for one event.
Intent data tool or intent-led engine: what is the difference?
An intent data tool gives you signals to act on. An intent-led engine acts on them for you.
| Intent data tool | Outbind | |
|---|---|---|
| Detects signals | Yes | Yes, by plan |
| Scores accounts | Often | Fit, persona and intent, reasons shown |
| Finds the right person | Varies | People search, scored on persona |
| Writes the email | No | Researches the lead, cites real sources |
| Sends and follows up | No | From your own inbox, stops on reply |
| Handles replies | No | Unibox, every reply sorted |
If you already have a strong sending setup and only need signals, a data-only tool may suit you. To compare named tools, see our alternatives pages.
How does Outbind turn intent into meetings?
Outbind searches your market every morning and scores every account on fit, persona and intent, with its reasons shown. When a signal lands, Obi researches the lead and writes a plain-text email that cites real sources, such as the funding round or the new role.
Every draft passes 35+ pre-send checks and goes from your own inbox between 8am and 8pm in the recipient's time zone. Follow-ups stop the moment someone replies. In the Unibox, Obi answers people who want to talk with your booking link; pricing questions, objections and anything unclear come to you.
For the method, read signal-based selling.
Where does Outbind not fit as buyer intent software?
Outbind uses intent to start conversations by email and LinkedIn. It is not the right pick if you need intent data only to feed ads, or a dialer for calling the accounts it finds. There is no browser extension and no free plan; every plan has a 7-day free trial.
How much does buyer intent software cost?
Outbind includes signals in every plan. Hiring and funding are on Pro at $49 a month. All signal types come with Pro Plus at $99 and Team at $199. Tech stack signals are on Team Scale at $399. There is no setup fee and no per-send fee. See pricing.
