Cookie Policy

Last updated 30 September 2026

This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies (such as browser storage) that the Outbind site uses. Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. We keep the list short and we ask before we use anything that is not strictly necessary.

You can see and change your choice at any time: . Refusing has no effect on what the site does for you. For how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

1. How we ask

When you first visit, a banner offers three groups: Necessary, Analytics and Recordings. “Reject all” and “Accept all” are equally easy to choose, nothing is ticked for you, and you can pick each group on its own under “Customise”. We remember your choice on your device and ask again only if this policy changes in a way that matters. You can change it whenever you like from “Cookie settings” in the footer of every page.

2. Necessary (always on)

These are needed for the site and its forms to work safely, or they do not identify you. They do not need your consent.

  • outbind_consentOur own browser storage (localStorage). It remembers the choice you made in the cookie banner. It stays until you change the choice or clear your browser data, and it never leaves your device.
  • outbind_introOur own browser storage (sessionStorage). It notes that the short opening animation has already played in this tab, so it plays only once per visit. It holds no personal data and is removed when you close the tab.
  • Cloudflare TurnstileThe bot check on our forms. It is cookieless by design, does not track you across sites and is used only to stop automated spam.
  • Technical data (Sentry)To keep the site working, it sends Sentry error reports, performance measurements, code-speed profiles, and counts and logs of what our server did. They contain no IP address, no cookies, no form contents and no email address, and nothing is stored on your device.

3. Aggregate measurement (no cookies)

Cloudflare Web Analytics, Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights count visits and measure how fast pages load. They set no cookies, do not store your IP address and do not build a profile of you, so they run without a banner choice.

4. Analytics (off until you agree)

Provided by PostHog, hosted in the United States. Without your agreement PostHog runs in memory only: it stores nothing on your device and forgets you when you leave the page. If you agree, it stores the following:

  • ph_…_posthogA first-party cookie, mirrored in localStorage, with a random ID for your browser so we can tell that a returning visit is the same browser. Lasts up to 1 year.
  • Other keys starting ph_Small items in localStorage and sessionStorage that hold the current visit, page and settings PostHog needs. The sessionStorage items are ph_…_window_id and ph_…_primary_window_exists, and they are removed when you close the tab.

If you join the waitlist while Analytics is on, we also link your earlier visits to a SHA-256 hash of your email address (a one-way scramble, not the address), plus a few non-identifying details: your role, how you found us, when you joined and how you say you heard about us. We use this to see which pages and channels led to a signup.

5. A/B testing (part of Analytics)

To learn what is clearest, we sometimes show visitors one of two versions of some wording on the site, such as the button to ask for early access or the line under the main title. PostHog picks your version at random. The main title is never tested. A/B tests run only if you turn on Analytics; otherwise you always see the original version and nothing about tests is stored on your device.

  • ph_…_posthogThe same PostHog cookie and localStorage item as in section 4. It also stores which version you got in each test and whether PostHog has been told you saw it, so you see the same one when you come back. The cookie lasts up to 1 year. The localStorage copy stays until you clear it or turn off Analytics.

When you see a tested part, PostHog (in the United States) records which version you saw, with the random ID of your browser, and adds it to the other events from your visits. To stop, turn off Analytics in “Cookie settings”: we delete the stored items and show you the original version.

6. Recordings (off until you agree)

If you agree, PostHog records how the site is used and Sentry keeps a short recording of the moments before an error, so we can find and fix problems. In every recording, all text, all form fields and all images and videos are hidden, so what you type and read is never visible to us.

  • ph_… keys (PostHog)The same PostHog keys as above, plus the ID of the current recording.
  • sentryReplaySessionA sessionStorage item that Sentry uses to keep the recording together for one visit. It is removed when you close the tab.

7. The Outbind app and the visit snippet

This policy is about outbind.ai. Two related places work differently:

  • better-auth.session_token, better-auth.session_dataThe Outbind app at app.outbind.ai sets only these sign-in cookies (with a __Secure- prefix on the live site). They keep you signed in, so they are strictly necessary. The app sets no analytics or advertising cookies.
  • ob, ob_sThe visit snippet that our customers can add to their own websites sets no cookies. It keeps a random ID for the browser tab (ob_s) in session storage and, if you arrived from a link in an email sent through Outbind, that link’s code (ob). The random ID is only sent with the code. Both are removed when you close the tab. See section 4 of our Privacy Policy.

8. Changing or withdrawing your choice

Use “Cookie settings” in the footer to change your choice. If you turn off Analytics or Recordings, we stop collecting straight away, reset your PostHog identity and delete the PostHog cookie and stored items on your device. Turning off Analytics also ends any A/B tests for you, and you see the original version of the site. You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser settings at any time; the banner will then ask you again.

9. Changes to this policy

If we add a tool or change what one of these does, we will update this page and its “last updated” date, and ask for your choice again when the change needs it.
