Outbind for freelancers: steady B2B clients without the hustle
How freelancers who sell to businesses use Outbind to find clients: one plan, one inbox, emails from your own mailbox and Autopilot that runs while you work.
Freelancers use Outbind to find business clients while they are busy doing paid work. Obi maps the companies that fit you, emails the right person from your own mailbox, follows up, and stops the moment someone replies.
It is built for freelancers who sell to businesses: designers, developers, copywriters, editors, analysts and other specialists. Most start on Pro at $49 a month, with a 7-day free trial.
How do freelancers get clients?
Mostly through referrals, past clients and marketplaces. Those work, but they come and go. A full month is often followed by an empty one, because nobody has time to look for the next client while delivering the current one.
The fix is to keep a small, steady stream of new conversations going every week, even when you are fully booked. That is the job Outbind does.
Who should a freelancer target?
Pick the clients you already do your best work for, and describe them in plain words. Obi reads your website, proposes an ICP and personas, and you edit them.
Some examples:
- A brand designer: "marketing leads at 10 to 50 person software companies".
- A freelance developer: "founders and CTOs at seed-stage startups that are hiring engineers".
- A B2B copywriter: "heads of marketing at professional services firms with 20 to 200 staff".
Personas are the people who say yes. For most freelancers that is a founder, a head of marketing, a product lead or an operations manager. Keep it narrow at first. A tight ICP gives better scores and better emails.
If you sell more as a consultant than as a maker, our page for consultants covers that side.
Which buying signals matter for a freelancer?
Signals tell you who has a reason to talk now. On Pro you get hiring and funding signals, plus recently funded companies.
| Signal | What it can mean for a freelancer | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Hiring | The team needs more hands, and a freelancer is faster than a hire | Every plan |
| Funding | New budget, and work that was on hold can start | Every plan |
| New leaders | A new head of marketing or product often brings in new suppliers | Pro Plus and up |
| Expansions | A new market or office often needs new material | Pro Plus and up |
A company hiring a designer or a developer is often a good fit for a freelancer in the same field: you can help now, while they search. Read more in our signal-based selling guide.
How would a Flow run for a freelancer?
Here is a simple example for a freelance web developer on Pro.
- Each morning Obi searches your market and scores every account on fit, persona and intent, with its reasons shown.
- A startup that just raised shows up with a funding signal. Obi finds the founder, verifies the email and researches the company.
- The first email goes out in plain text from your own mailbox. It cites a real source, such as the funding news, and asks one short question.
- Follow-ups go out if there is no reply, always between 8am and 8pm in the founder's time zone.
- The founder replies. Sending stops at once. The reply lands in Unibox, sorted as interested, objection, meeting and more. If they want to talk, Obi answers with your booking link.
You OK the first leads once. After that, Autopilot adds good fits by itself, or you can choose to review every lead. Pricing questions and anything unclear come to you.
Which plan fits a freelancer?
Pro fits most freelancers. Move up when you want more signals or a second LinkedIn account.
| Pro | Pro Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $49 a month | $99 a month |
| Credits | 5,000 a month, up to 400 leads | 12,000 a month, up to 1,000 leads |
| Autopilot a day | Up to 20 new leads and 60 emails | Up to 50 new leads and 150 emails |
| Your mailboxes | Up to 3 | Up to 5 |
| LinkedIn accounts | 1 | 2 |
| Signals | Hiring and funding | All signal types except tech stack |
| Extras | Research brief on every lead, edit and build Flows, HubSpot and Pipedrive |
Writing, sending and follow-ups never use credits. Credits pay for finding and checking data. Yearly billing gives 2 months free. Full details are on pricing.
What are the limits?
Outbind is for selling to businesses. If your clients are consumers, it is not the right tool.
- No phone calls or dialer. It works through email and LinkedIn only.
- No free plan. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial with 1,000 credits. A card is needed at sign-up and is charged on day 7 unless you cancel.
- No done-for-you service. You still take the calls, write the proposals and do the work.
- No mailboxes for sale. You connect your own, and each gets a slow start so it stays out of spam.
- GDPR. Data is stored in the EU and GDPR shapes how contacts are sourced, stored and messaged. Anyone can ask to be removed at /remove-me.
Is cold email still worth it for freelancers?
Yes, when it is short, relevant and sent to the right person at the right time. Generic mass emails do not work for anyone. A few well-timed emails a day that cite something real about the company are a different thing.
For benchmarks, read cold email reply rate benchmarks. For how the rules on sending changed, see email sender requirements in 2026.
FAQ
How do I get clients as a freelancer with no network?
Start with a narrow ICP and let signals pick the timing. Outbind finds companies that fit, verifies the right contact and emails them from your own mailbox, so you do not need a warm introduction to start a conversation.
Can I pause Outbind when I am fully booked?
Yes. If you use the optional WhatsApp brief, one message pauses all sending. WhatsApp is only between you and Outbind; your contacts are never messaged there.
