Outbind for web design agencies: reach companies before the redesign
How web design agencies use Outbind to win clients: funding and hiring signals, tech stack signals on Team Scale, and emails from your own mailboxes.
Web design agencies use Outbind to find companies that are about to need a new website, and to email the person who will sign it off. Obi watches for signals such as funding, hiring and new leaders, then writes and sends emails from your own mailboxes.
It suits studios and agencies that design and build websites for businesses. Small studios often start on Pro Plus at $99 a month; teams pick Team or Team Scale. Every plan has a 7-day free trial.
How do web design agencies find new clients?
Mostly through referrals, portfolio sites, directories and the odd inbound lead. The trouble is timing. A company only needs a new website every few years, and by the time it asks for quotes it often already has a shortlist.
Reaching it earlier, when something has just changed, gives you a better chance of being on that list. Outbind is built around that timing.
Who does a web design agency sell to?
Pick the kind of client you do your best work for. Obi reads your website, proposes an ICP and personas, and you edit them.
Some examples:
- "Marketing directors at 50 to 300 person B2B manufacturers".
- "Founders of recently funded software startups with 10 to 50 staff".
- "Practice managers at multi-site dental groups in the south of England".
The persona is usually the head of marketing, the founder or managing director, or a digital or brand lead in larger firms. If you build on one platform, our page for software development agencies covers the build side in more depth.
Which buying signals point to a new website?
A website project usually follows a change in the business. These are the signals Outbind detects.
| Signal | What it can mean for a web agency | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Funding | New money, a new story to tell, and pressure to look the part | Every plan |
| Hiring | A new marketing hire often brings a redesign with them | Every plan |
| New leaders | A new head of marketing tends to review the website early | Pro Plus and up |
| Expansions | New markets, new services or new locations to show | Pro Plus and up |
| Acquisitions | Two brands, often two websites, to bring together | Pro Plus and up |
| Tech stack and what changed | Which website platform a company runs, and when it changes | Team Scale only |
Recently funded companies are on every plan. If you specialise in one website platform, tech stack signals on Team Scale let you focus on companies that run it. Read more in our signal-based selling guide.
How would a Flow run for a web design agency?
Here is an example for a studio on Pro Plus.
- Each morning Obi searches your market and scores each account on fit, persona and intent, with its reasons shown.
- A company hires a new head of marketing. The new leader signal moves it up. Obi verifies the contact and writes a research brief.
- The first email goes out in plain text from your own mailbox. It cites a real source, such as the appointment, and offers a short review of the current site.
- A LinkedIn step runs in the cloud, with no browser extension.
- Follow-ups go out if there is no reply, between 8am and 8pm in the recipient's time zone, after 35+ pre-send checks on every email.
- They reply. Sending stops at once. Unibox sorts the reply as interested, objection, meeting and more. If they want to talk, Obi sends your booking link.
Sales emails are plain text, so they will not show off your design work. You can link to a case study page on your own site instead.
Which plan fits a web design agency?
- Pro Plus, $99 a month. A small studio. All signal types except tech stack, a research brief on every lead, 2 LinkedIn accounts, up to 5 of your own mailboxes, HubSpot and Pipedrive sync.
- Team, $199 a month. 3 seats, 25,000 shared credits, 4 LinkedIn accounts, up to 10 mailboxes, and a shared Unibox with reply assignment.
- Team Scale, $399 a month. 5 seats, tech stack signals, Salesforce sync, 8 LinkedIn accounts, up to 20 mailboxes and priority support.
A solo designer can start on Pro at $49 a month with hiring and funding signals. Writing, sending and follow-ups never use credits. See pricing.
What are the limits?
Outbind is for selling to businesses. It is not built for finding homeowners or other consumers.
- No phone calls or dialer. Email and LinkedIn only.
- No free plan. Every plan has a 7-day free trial with 1,000 credits. A card is needed at sign-up and is charged on day 7 unless you cancel.
- Tech stack signals are Team Scale only. On other plans you target by industry, size, location and the other signals.
- No done-for-you service. Your team still runs the calls, the pitch and the project.
- GDPR. Data is stored in the EU, and GDPR shapes how contacts are sourced, stored and messaged. People can ask to be removed at /remove-me.
What does the agency still do?
| What Outbind does | What your team does |
|---|---|
| Maps the market and scores accounts | Choose the sectors to lead with |
| Finds and verifies contacts | OK the first leads |
| Writes, sends and follows up | Run the discovery call |
| Sorts every reply in Unibox | Answer scope and pricing questions |
| Moves the deal as replies come in | Design, build and launch |

FAQ
How do I get clients for my web design agency?
Reach companies when something has just changed, such as new funding, a new marketing leader or an expansion. Outbind finds those companies, verifies the decision maker and emails them from your own mailbox.
Can Outbind find companies using a certain website platform?
Yes, on Team Scale. Tech stack signals show the tools a company runs and what changed. They are not on Pro, Pro Plus or Team.
